First, a gig announcement

Las Rubias will be playing at 10pm this Friday, the 18th, at Barbès.
Las Rubias will also be playing with our good friends The Wiyos at the Blender Theater at Grammercy Park on October 23rd – This will be our big event for the end of 2009 and we hope to see you there, but we will send more info about this later. Watch out for tour dates in 2010.

Now, begin the begging

We know, it’s a bit embarrassing, but we need to raise money to complete our new album.  Most of the album is recorded, we just need to add a few overdubs, then mix, and master –which should come to roughly $6,000. Given the state of the record industry and the ever-plummeting record sales, we turn to you, the people, we assume, have seen us play and have, we hope, enjoyed our previous records.

The cd is scheduled to come out on Barbès Records the first week in March, and for that, we need to finish mixing by mid-november. 

Not to be bragging, but this will be by far our best cd. The band sounds better than it ever has, the songs are more varied than they ever were, and we put more work and more enthusiasm in this project than we even thought possible.

To legitimize the begging process, we’ve set up a page through Kickstarter.com – a new website dedicated to fundraising for art projects. You can click here or click on the icon, further down.
The way their service works, only when the amount of pledges match the goal set, do we actually get the money. We set our goal at $2,000, even though we are looking to raise $6,000. Should you not feel comfortable with the way they do things but still wish to participate, email us directly.

As a way to to thank you, we are offering the following:

$20  -  gets you a signed copy of the new cd sent to you one month before the release date.
$50 - Same as above,  with a copy of Rumba Internationale and Panamericana
$100 - All of the above plus a pair of complimentary tickets to the cd release party ( probably at Joe's Pub)
$500 - All of the above, plus an additional 10 cds,  a special thanks in the cd ,  and our eternal gratitude.
